ABOUT

My story

My name is Dr. Ash and I am a board-certified psychiatrist. My passion is helping people to achieve well-being through their mental health goals.

I am a first-generation Indian-American immigrant and the first person in my family to pursue a career in medicine. These are powerful aspects of my identity which have influenced my values of grit, self-compassion, and advocacy for others.

Growing up, I witnessed the barriers my family faced when trying to navigate unfamiliar systems—experiences that sowed the seeds of my lifelong commitment to helping people  heal and thrive. After graduating from medical school, I became a psychiatrist because I recognized the power of mental health  to transform people’s lives.  I chose a career in academic medicine because I am deeply passionate about teaching and research to advance patient care.

In my clinical practice, I provide medication management, psychotherapy, and coaching. I evaluate individuals with anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD. I have expertise in diverse fields, including job burnout, with a focus on nurturing reciprocity and belonging in workplace culture; gut-brain health; and the impact of social media and digital health tools on well-being.

I  believe being a leader in mental health means breaking down stigma.  I also recognize the role that media plays in raising awareness. That’s why I am so active on social media and passionate about writing  on topics in mental health in the press, exploring such issues as the intersection between being a physician and parent.

I also provided expert  commentary for the documentary film “The Observed Life, and have been featured in more than 50 prominent media outlets, including the New York Times, Time Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and the Washington Post.
